ヒノキ林の斜面にユミダイゴケが生えていました。日当たりの良い裸地や花壇にも分布するシッポゴケ科のコケ植物です。胞子が入っている蒴の根元の部分が長く弓形に発達するのが特徴です。植物体は小さくあまり目立ちませんが、写真のように胞子体をつけているときは良く目立ちます。

"Yumidaigoke" moss is growing on a slope in the Japanese cypress woodland. It belongs to the Dicranaceae family and is commonly found on sunny patches of bare soil and even flower beds. The bottom part of their capsule, which produces  spores, grows long and looks like a bow. Their leafy shoots are tiny and inconspicuous, but the sporophytes stand out clearly, as you can see in the photo.
