タラノキ
タラノキの新芽が伸びています。伐採跡地などにいち早く生えてくる落葉低木です。新芽はタラの芽と呼ばれ、春の山菜として親しまれており、栽培品はスーパーなどでも売られています。鹿の好物でもあるらしく、キャンパス内でも食べられた跡をよく見ます。
“Taranoki (タラノキ)” trees are beginning to sprout. They are deciduous shrubs that tend to appear earlier than other plants in areas where trees have been logged. Their young shoots, called Taranome (タラの芽), are a popular edible wild plant in spring. Cultivated Taranome can also be found in supermarkets. Deer are fond of these shoots as well, so we can often see the signs of them having been eaten around campus.
