"Kibushi (キブシ)" trees are now in bloom. They are the deciduous shrubs or small trees that typically grow along forest edges, often in shady areas. In spring, before the leaves appear, numerous yellow flowers bloom in hanging clusters. TheJapanese name “Kibushi” comes from the fact that its fruit was once used as a substitute for galls from the Chinese sumac tree known as "Fushi (五倍子)”, to produce black dye.
