ヤブミョウガ
裏道でヤブミョウガの果実がなっていました。果実は光沢のある藍色ですが、この色はコガネムシの体などと同様に、構造色と呼ばれ、果皮の物理的な形状によって見えている色だといわれています。
見た目はブルーベリーのようですが、中は乾燥していて、小石のような種子が入っています。

I found the fruit of "Yabu-Myouga (ヤブミョウガ)" on the back road. The fruit is shiny deep blue. This color is called 'structural color', which is production of color by microscopically structured surfaces fine enough to interfere with visible light, as is seen in the body color of scarab beetles.
The fruit looks like blueberries but its inside is dry and contains pebble-like seeds.
