　今年も、「百合の行列」が行われました。本学院ではオンラインも使いながら行われましたが、英国の姉妹校Kilgraston Schoolでは、感染対策を講じながら聖堂で行った様子が配信されてきました。生徒が一年間の留学に赴く学校の一つです。

聖心学院における百合の行列の歴史は、19世紀の創立者の時代に遡ります。

On December 8, 1854, Pius IX declared the dogma of the Immaculate Conception. Forty years earlier Mother Barat had dedicated all her schools to Our Lady under that title, and given them December 8 as their patronal feast. On that day in all her convents the lily procession took place, when each child offered a lily to Our Lady with the words: “O Mary, I give you the lily of my heart; be thou its guardian forever.”

　学院では、「マリア様、私の心の百合をお捧げします。生涯、清く保つことができますように」と唱え、一人ひとりが白い百合をお捧げいたします。毎年、一年の終わりも近づく時に、静かに心の深みに立ち返り、自らの生涯に思いを馳せる大切な時でもあります。

　生徒たちが、聖母マリアのように、かけがえのない今を、そして生涯を、清く、強く生き抜いてきますように。
